Customer shows commitment to Fortress Technology through Benelux distributor November 17, 2010 News Netherlands company, Heijs Groep, has produced poultry for discerning customers throughout the UK and Europe for more than 60 years. For the past five years its poultry processing plant at Hoogeveen has used high performance metal detection systems produced by leading UK designer and manufacturer, Fortress Technology strengthening that relationship recently with an order for three additional machines through Benelux distributor, Jansen Techniek. Site Manager at Heijs Groep’s poultry processing plant, Jan Meijer comments: “Our company philosophy is ‘Product Safety Above All Else’ and we pride ourselves on guaranteeing the best quality poultry products, maximum product safety and humane poultry farming.” He continues: “In order to maintain these high standards, we need to ensure that our metal detection systems are accurate, fast and reliable and we have found that to be the case with the Phantom equipment from Fortress Technology supplied by Jansen Techniek.” The latest three metal detectors join four Fortress machines previously installed on Heijs Groep’s poultry packaging lines over the past five years and highlight the Dutch company’s long term relationship with and commitment to Fortress Technology. Explains Onno Lukkien at Jansen Techniek: “Heijs Groep particularly favours the Fortress Phantom with IP69K certified BSH extra-rugged casing for complete waterproof protection, since their production lines are cleaned every day with high pressure hoses. “Each of the models supplied has been custom-made along with a conveyor system for this customer, with a variety of aperture sizes ranging from 350mm x 150mm to 550mm x 325mm. One of the reasons Fortress machines were chosen once again was because they are very easy to use and install, plus they are robust and reliable.” The latest three 550mm x 325mm additions to the Heijs Groep production line are inspecting a range of different poultry products including whole chickens, fillets and wings, which are packaged in crates and paper boxes weighing between 5 and 25kg. The Phantom metal detectors use the latest Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology to detect and reject ferrous and non-ferrous metals and are known for their superior speed, accuracy and ease of use. The UltraSense feature maintains high sensitivity levels to detect even the smallest metal contaminants. Established in the UK since 1999, Fortress Technology is backed by skilled in-house design, technical and consultancy teams and a growing distributor network. The company offers high quality spare parts, flexible warranty packages, training, product testing and rental units.
