IPP Logipal freezes out the competition February 22, 2011 News IPP Logipal has taken another slice of the frozen food pallet supply market after securing a new contract with Coppenrath & Wiese, which supplies branded and own label frozen desserts to major retailers and wholesalers in the UK. Established in Germany by businessman Aloys Coppenrath and confectioner Josef Wiese when they discovered the revolutionary idea of shock-freezing in the early 1970s, the company has grown into a popular household brand. Its vast range of 60 products includes baked cakes, traycakes, strudel, mini-baked snacks, frozen rolls and its best selling Black Forest Gateau. With ISO and HACCP food safety accreditations, Coppenrath & Wiese has a high regard for quality across its business, from sourcing first class ingredients from across the world right through to its supply chain operation. From its UK base in Castleford, the award winning company supplies products to leading supermarket multiples such as Iceland, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Sainsburys, along with independent retailers. To facilitate this IPP Logipal is providing a pallet pooling service from its national depot network for delivering Coppenrath & Wiese desserts nationwide. As part of its unique one-way trip system, IPP Logipal arranges collections of utilised pallets and carries out inspections against KPI (key performance indicator) criteria, ensuring Coppenrath & Wiese receives consistently high-quality pallets. Bernard Maher, Commercial Manager at Coppenrath & Wiese UK, comments: “Distributing frozen products to meet demanding delivery windows can be a complicated operation, so we required a pallet provider that could add some much needed simplicity to the process. “In both the UK and Europe, IPP Logipal has established an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality pallets first time and every time, which has recently been acknowledged in review meetings with leading retailers. “This means our business has a continuity of reliable pallet supplies that ensures our supply chain runs much more efficiently, is cost effective and easy to administer.” IPP Logipal also delivers pallets to the manufacturer’s headquarters and world logistics centre in Osnabrück, Germany, where the frozen desserts are loaded into state-of-the-art, fully automatic high rack cold stores at a temperature of minus 25°C. Products are then delivered to supermarkets, catering companies, foodservice and wholesalers across Europe and America.
