Smith Anderson moves up a gear November 3, 2011 News The UK’s largest supplier of paper bags to the foodservice industry is moving from its home of 40 years. Smith Anderson Group, who manufacture over 2 billion paper bags each year, have successfully purchased Rosslyn Commerce Park in Kirkcaldy, Fife. The new site offers a ‘state of the art’ single storey configuration, covering over 120,000 sqft. Chief Executive Michael Longstaffe commented “This is a bold step during such austere times, but the board are extremely confident that it is an opportunity not to be missed. Future success lies in ‘lean’ techniques fuelling growth for us to become Europe’s leading low cost converter, whilst retaining our award winning innovative flair and superb customer service.” The move is a credible way to realise a growth strategy for the group, whose packaging solutions are 100% compostable. “We must continue to differentiate ourselves from our competition by being better” said Longstaffe. A complete relocation will take 12 months and safeguard the current workforce, leading to growth within this successful sector, dominated by the Scottish independent. Established 152 years ago and a leader in sustainable packaging solutions, Smith Anderson remains focussed on strategic European expansion and relishes the thought of accelerating into 2012. www.smithanderson.co.uk About Latest Posts Publisher Latest posts by Publisher (see all) ZEO INVESTS IN LARGEST EVER BRAND RELAUNCH WITH NEW NO ADDED SUGAR RANGE & CELEBRITY AMBASSADOR CAROLINE FLACK - April 26, 2017 NEEDHAM CODING LAUNCHES FIRST OWN BRAND CONTINUOUS INK JET PRINTERS - April 25, 2017 FANUC ROBOTS CAN HANDLE THEIR BELGIUM BEER - April 25, 2017
