An intrepid team from Interfood has successfully completed the 2013 Samworth Brothers Challenge, raising over £4,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK.

The ‘Interfood…not…fitness’ team of Steve Naylor, Rob Unwin, Tom Foran and James Wells took on everything that the Challenge had to throw at them – 15km on foot, 10km in a canoe and 44km on bikes – completing the course through the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park in just under 10 hours.

This is the fourth Charity Challenge organised by Samworth Brothers, the family company with 13 businesses producing high quality chilled foods from its facilities in Leicestershire and Cornwall. The event saw over 80 teams raising £327,000, bringing the event’s four-year total to over £1m.

Angela Banfield, Corporate Account Manager at Make-A-Wish, which every year grants hundreds of wishes to children and young people who are fighting life-threatening conditions, said: “To have undertaken such a tough challenge is in itself a huge achievement! To have raised over £4,000 whilst doing so is truly fantastic.”

Commenting on the challenge, Rob Unwin, Director of Interfood’s Slicing Division, said: “On behalf of the team, I’d like to thank all our suppliers, our customers and our friends for helping us to raise over £4,000 for what is a truly inspiring charity.”
