‘SPOONKLER™’ WINS BEST REBRAND AND PACKAGING DESIGN AT UK PACKAGING AWARDS AFTER STRONG SALES GROWTH

The ‘Spoonkler™’ from The Bart Ingredients Co Ltd®, which is manufactured by RPC Containers Halstead, has won the best rebrand and packaging design award at this year’s UK Packaging Awards. The judging panel felt that the pack delivered on its promises. One said it was a great combination of structure and graphics while another said it was “a very good example of a brief well executed.” The Spoonkler was also highly commended in the category for innovation of the year.

Bart used extensive consumer research to develop the insight that led to the Spoonkler™ concept. The ingenious design allows cooks either to sprinkle or to spoon out granular herbs and spices without mess or wastage, simply by flipping a double hinged lid. Honey then brought it to life through their structural packaging team and it was produced by RPC Containers, Halstead.

The dual hinged cap presented several design and engineering challenges. Having developed the concept, Bart worked with RPC Design and RPC Halstead to produce a fully functional closure that could be commercially manufactured and was able to work reliably on high speed capping lines to control cost and achieve required volumes.
