New lidding film from Excelsior Technologies

The tray lidding film market for soft fruit and fresh cut produce in the UK, has been slow to develop new solutions. Excelsior Technologies of Deeside, North Wales has now launched a new lidding film – PEELfresh- that is produced in the UK. It matches the performance of its’ rivals and has added benefits too.

PEELfresh has been specifically designed for chilled trays of fresh whole and fresh cut produce, with permeability added by either laser micro hole perforation or macro punched holes.

The biaxially orientated polyester film is coated on one side with an in-house developed proprietary heat seal lacquer formulation, which provides seals to both A-PET and PVC trays. The film is available in 19 micron unprinted and 25 micron printed. The film has excellent sealing properties over a wide temperature range with industry leading anti-mist properties and very high clarity. It is easy to peel and has excellent anti-shard properties. As it is coated in the UK the film has a much smaller carbon footprint than its’ imported competitors and local manufacture also improves response and delivery times.

Excelsior Technologies provides a design and print facility too with printing up to 8 colours HD Flexo and up to 10 colours gravure.
