Just Love wins two leading industry awards for their allergen-free cakes November 21, 2023 News Just Love, the UK’s leading allergen-free cake company, is thrilled to have scooped up not one, but two awards this week. Coming first place in both The Grocer New Packaging and Product Awards and the Baking Industry Awards, they have cemented their place as a front runner within the allergen-free and vegan cake industry. Just Love’s vegan Vanilla Celebration Cake, which launched this May, was tried and tested by the panel and took Champion spot in The Grocer’s New Product and Packaging Awards in the ‘Cakes and Biscuits category’, surrounded by household names such as Mcvitie’s, Mr Kipling and Fox’s. Just Love’s Vanilla Celebration Cake is the first vegan celebration cake of its kind in the UK and is nut, milk and egg free to allergen standards. It consists of a sponge filled with raspberry and plum jam, decorated with vanilla frosting and colourful stars. The Just Love team developed the new product for 2023, following multiple customer requests to create a traditional vanilla celebration cake that could be enjoyed byeveryone, including those with allergies and vegans. The judges were unanimous in their praise for its taste, texture and price point (£8/632g) – while also loving Just Love’s brand story. As one judge summed up: ‘It delivers on the classic cake flavour – Fantastic!’. Just Love also picked up first place in The Baking Industry Awards for their Gluten Free Happy Birthday Cake in the ‘Free From’ category, sponsored by Foodology by Univar Solutions. This category focused on a bakery product that displays original and creative recipe formation without sacrificing on taste or texture due to removing usual key ingredients like gluten and milk. The cake, consisting of a gluten-free sponge filled with vanilla-flavoured frosting and a plum and raspberry jam, covered with soft icing and coloured decorations, wowed judges with its impressive texture. Judges were also impressed with the cake’s packaging, calling the detachable allergen relabel a brilliant idea. Mike Woods says “We’re over the moon with these results and it’s a true reflection of all the hard-work the team has done to create delicious allergen-free cakes that don’t compromise on flavour or decoration. We started off as a nut free brand and are proud to say we now make over 6,000 allergen-free cakes a day, with 13 of the top 14 allergens removed across the range. Starting Just Love felt like my contribution to my children’s wellbeing, and subsequently to any of the 2 million people in the UK living with an allergy. We will continue working to make celebrations truly inclusive and something that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of dietary requirements – fulfilling our mission of bringing people together with cake.” With new products in the pipeline, Just Love is going from strength to strength and is looking forward to another successful year. Just Love is available in ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and OCADO, beginning at an RRP of £6.
