Canova Hall December 11, 2017 Reviews Canova Hall is without a doubt the hottest new restaurant in Brixton. What was once a thriving post office, this unique building has now been converted into a 21st century Great Gatsby-esque swanky and sleek restaurant. The food is simply banging and the cocktails on offer are just as sexy. Canova Hall straight up does easy comfort food. Food that guarantees satisfaction and my God there is a lot to choose from – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Weekend Brunch and even takeaways. The restaurant is heavily Italian influenced with a wood oven put to full use baking fresh pizzas and sharing dishes. Naturally for us we picked a few brunch style plates as well as a few sides with the Rigatoni being the star attraction-rich, slow cooked beef surrounded by buttered rigatoni and finished off with a generous sprinkle of parmesan cheese. Their buttermilk fried chicken is crisp and tender and is ever so good when dipped in the hot mustard. No need for the watermelon though, we have no time for that shizz. Side wise, Canova Hall’s Pecorino and mint crocchettas will simply make anyone weak at the knees. I mean come on who doesn’t love a deep fried nugget filled with hot gooey cheese? Another round of those please sir and the focaccia is just as moreish – again shavings of pecorino, fresh lemon, sweet red onions and laced in delicious marmite (yes marmite woop woop) butter. What a cheeky little number. Finally a meal wouldn’t be complete without the standard triple cooked chips which is accompanied with spicy ‘Ndjua ketchup. Fabulous stuff and all of this good food should be washed down with some refreshing cocktails. This place certainly is a massive hit. Slow Beef Rigatoni House Fried Chicken Pecorino & Mint Chocchettas and Hot Mustard Pecorino, Lemon & Red Onion Focaccia With Marmite Butter Brixton has got a great restaurant in its ranks and Canova Hall will only get better and more popular. This place will guarantee a good night out whether you’re dining or just there to get tanked up on booze. 250 Ferndale Road, Brixton London SW9 8BQ 020 7733 8356 [email protected] MON to THURS: 8am — Midnight FRI: 8am — 1am SAT: 9am — 1am SUN: 9am — Midnight About Latest Posts Foodpunk JoeThe whole idea of FoodPunk is to showcase the awesome food that London has to offer, whether its going to various restaurants, eating at food markets or even finding some hidden gems tucked away in the heart of the city.
