Meantime raise a glass to Kemtile

The new Meantime Brewery in Greenwich has recently had new Kagetec BS and GFK tiled floors installed in its’ new brewing hall and bottling plant. The Kagetec system comprises of Argelith 18mm fully vitrified hexagonal tiles with an anti-slip surface installed using the sonic vibration method of fixing and grouted with a high strength epoxy. The GFK system, which is more suitable for wet areas with high thermal and mechanical stress, was installed in the Brewhouse (80m2)

Kemtile took overall responsibility for the laying, which included a concrete screed to create the drainage ‘falls’ and installation of Weidemann Technik GmbH stainless steel drains. The total floor area was 840m2.

The Meantime Brewery in Greenwich was open in 2000 and has received many awards, including British Brewer of the Year in 2008, for the quality and authenticity of its range of 15 beers and is the largest brewery to be set up in the capital for over 100 years.

Alastair Hook , Brewmaster and Founder of Meantime has been responsible for 14 Micro-brewery installations over the course of his career and he has found that the biggest mistake made by Brewers is putting in sub-standard flooring, which he insisted wasn’t going to happen this time.

He commented on Kemtile’s flooring installation “your boys did a hell of a job here! They were a credit to your company and I even had the German brewery installation company Rolec telling me they had never seen an English crew working harder than them!”

He continued “being ahead of time and delivering on all your promises (and more) is a rarity for most companies nowadays. The floors look fantastic and I am looking forward to seeing them in action.”

Kemtile are one of the UK’s leading specialists in floors for the food and drink/beverage market and have completed a number of breweries in the last few months which include Tatton Brewery in Knutsford – rectangular tiles and a seamless Ucrete floor; Purple Moose Brewery in Portmadoc – Ucrete polymer concrete floor.
