LPR opens pallet sort facility at Weetabix

LPR, the flexible and innovative pallet pool operator, has recently opened a new pallet sort and repair facility at the Weetabix production site in Burton Latimer, near Kettering.

The £160,000 facility has the capacity to sort and repair over 25,000 of LPR’s distinctive red pallets each week. As a result, LPR and its supply chain partner, Norbert Dentressangle, are able to deliver greater efficiencies in pallet processing and reduce vehicle movements, as full loads of pallets are backhauled on Weetabix outbound deliveries thereby saving unnecessary vehicle movements each year.

Weetabix’s chief executive, Giles Turrell, formally opened the facility on Wednesday 9th November. He comments: “Pallets are essential in keeping the FMCG supply chain moving. We’re delighted to be part of the collaboration with LPR and Norbert Dentressangle, as this has enabled Weetabix to have this facility on its Burton Latimer site. As a result, we have greater control and security of our pallet supply and importantly make a reduction on our environmental impact.”

The pallet repair facility is manned by Norbert Dentressangle personnel who check each pallet returned to the depot from retailers’ distribution centres. Any necessary repairs are made on site to ensure each pallet achieves LPR’s stringent quality controls, which have seen it rated by industry as the best out of the three pallet poolers operating in the UK.
