Leading herbs and spices brand Schwartz, in partnership with parent company McCormick & Company, Incorporated, a global leader in flavour, unveils the 2013 Flavour Forecast. Established in the US in 2000 and in the UK since 2008, the report is an annual spotlight on the emerging trends that the company expects to drive in terms of flavour innovation.

“Through the Flavour Forecast, Schwartz and McCormick lead the way in identifying flavour trends that serve as catalysts for innovation,” said Paola Bassi, Marketing Director, Schwartz. “With our global team of experts spanning both retail and food service businesses in more than 100 countries – we have a unique capability of identifying new and emerging trends on a global scale, which we can see coming to life globally and in the UK. It’s our passion for flavour that helps us deliver such a strong track record of identifying the trends consumers will come to love.”

With the Flavour Forecast 2013, McCormick and Schwartz have identified five trends that will drive new product development and innovative menu additions over the coming years. Ten accompanying flavour combinations illustrate how these trends are coming to life through taste.

The five trends highlighted in this year’s report are as follows:

* Global My Way: Discovering the unlimited possibilities of global ingredients

* Hidden Potential: using every last part of the ingredient for the fullest flavours

* Empowered Eating: a fresh and personal approach to healthy eating

* Personally Handcrafted: a hands-on approach to showcasing the very best of ourselves

* No Apologies Necessary: indulging in sumptuous flavours to enjoy a momentary escape

All trends fall under an overarching theme where traditional flavours and innovative techniques collide and create a medley of unique flavour experiences that is more creative, more diverse and much more personal.

The much-anticipated Flavour Forecast report is created by a team of Schwartz and McCormick chefs, sensory scientists, dieticians, trend trackers, marketing experts and food technologists from around the world. In its second year as a global report, the Flavour Forecast showcases trends and flavours taking root in cultures spanning Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa, Latin America and North America.
